Job Description

Bring your energy and enthusiasm to the Ontario Honours and Awards Secretariat (OHAS) to support activities related to official ceremonies and special events across the Province.

NOTE: These three vacancies are 10 month seasonal positions working 36.25 hours per week.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
  • Provide clerical services to support the activities of the OHAS
  • Respond to routine inquiries regarding program requirements and refer to appropriate area
  • Review, enter and maintain nominations into a database system
  • Maintain files and records in accordance with established procedures
  • Interact with participants at events and ceremonies
  • Ensure that deadlines and time frames are met


How do I qualify?

Office Administration, Equipment and Computer Knowledge and Skills:

  • you are proficient with database management to maintain and administer nominations within a database system
  • you are proficient with computer software programs including Microsoft Office to format various outgoing materials and complete awards certificates
  • you have experience applying administrative policies, procedures, standards in order to provide clerical services to support the activities of the OHAS
  • you have knowledge of the operation of office equipment such as photocopier to copy material and transmit information
  • you can refer calls to appropriate staff member as well as maintain files and records in accordance with established procedures


Organization, Analytical, Reasoning and Problem Solving Skills

  • you can prioritize your workload to meet deadlines
  • you are able to review and analyze information to resolve problems


Communication, Interpersonal and Customer Service Skills

  • you can communicate effectively and provide general information regarding the award program in a clear and concise manner
  • you can interact well with others and respond to inquiries in a timely fashion
